A series of free evening events will be held in the city, each dedicated to one of the Platform themes and led by prominent artists and thinkers. There will be space for discussion and reflection in an informal setting.
Shaun Featherstone is an artist and curator based in Cardiff. Since 2006 he has coordinated the temporary exhibition programme at Newport ArtGallery. In 1991 he co-founded Stepping Stone Arts – a proto, artist-led, socially engaged project. He has a background working in arts and education including HMP Cardiff, engage Cymru and was director of Cardiff Arts in Education Agency. In 2012 he published an anti-dote to the Queen’s diamond Jubilee, the republican newspaper ‘The Great Frock n Robe Swindle’ which was distributed throughout the UK. He is currently working on two projects ‘SHARES’ in association with Tania Bruguera’s Immigrant International project and a new series of works ‘Red Shoes’ in response to the death of Margaret Thatcher – which he intends to take to MARXISM 2013 in July. He recently completed an MA in Fine Art at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
