Living in south Wales, Paul Cabuts’ photographic practice has focused on the Valleys for over two decades. His work has been exhibited at venues in the UK and beyond including the Australian Centre for Photography and Treffpunkt Stuttgart, Germany. A recipient of a Creative Wales Award from the Arts Council of Wales in 2002, Cabuts has been commissioned to work on numerous photography projects including the BBC’s BAFTA Cymru Award winning Capture Wales project. His photographs are held in a number of collections including those at the National Library of Wales, Ffotogallery and the Groundwork Trust.
He gained a BA (Hons) Documentary Photography at the University of Wales, Newport and a MA in Fine Art at Aberystwyth University. He completed his PhD at the European Centre for Photographic Research where he examined the factors shaping the development of the photographic arts in Wales during the second-half of the twentieth century. He is currently Academic Subject Leader in Photography at Newport.
