Humberto Gatica was born and educated in Chile. Gatica has exhibited individually and in group exhibitions and in 2009, he won first prize in the Swansea Open. Gatica has had two books of poetry published: Ring Y Otros Poemas (1987) and The Sand Garden (2008, Hafan Books). His poetry has been translated to Welsh, French and German and has also been published in printed and online magazines in Europe and Latin America including Solar (Mexico); Noticias, Exiled Ink (London); La Cita Trunca (Canada); Sech (Chile) and anthologies such as Haiku, Poetry Ancient & Modern (MQP,2002); Another Country, Haiku poetry from Wales (Gomer 2011);  Barbered Wire Blossom and The Museum of Haiku Literature Award Anthology 1992 – 2011 (British Haiku Society, 2012). He runs technical workshops in the Photography School at Swansea Metropolitan University.
