Eva Bartussek is a documentary photographer based in Wales who seeks to expand notions of portraiture through her work. In 2011, she won the Photography Award at Welsh Artist of the Year. In 2012 her work was included in A Gallery of One’s Own, an exhibition at the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff, that looked at women’s art in Wales. Last year Eva took part in Aidan Avion, Wales’s contribution to the Cultural Olympiad.

Her solo exhibition Horse House which documented an extraordinary domestic situation: a mansion that for some time was simultaneously a home and stable was shown at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea 2010, Oriel Wrecsam, Wrexham 2011 and (as part of a group show) at Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum 2011).

Eva is currently working on a practice-based PhD focused on the idea of patience, womanhood and creative blockage. She also undertakes commercial and reportage photographic commissions. Eva is a lecturer in Photography at Swansea Metropolitan University.
